 The car featured here, a 1950 Delahaye 135M with bodywork by Guilloré, offers a unique opportunity to buy French coach-built opulence at a seemingly reasonable price.The 135 was one of Delahaye’s most celebrated models, marking the company’s move to more performance-oriented cars and finding success both at the Monte Carlo Rally and at Le Mans. The “M” was the more powerful 3.6 liter version of the 1950 Delahaye 135M that first saw the light of day in 1936. Delahaye kept building the 1950 Delahaye 135M right up until production stopped in 1954. Today, these cars are frequently the stars of whatever car show they show up to, such is the power of their precise engineering and stunning coachbuilt bodies.The car featured here certainly has a lot going for it. While not as famous as, say, Figoni et Falaschi or Saoutchik, Guilloré was still a very well-respected, if relatively short-lived coachbuilder. This car, Chassis no. 801428, is reportedly one of only five remaining Guilloré-bodied 1950 Delahaye 135Ms, and is nothing short of gorgeous. Another thing the car has going for it is an impressive level of originality, something highly valued in today’s market. The car was repainted some years ago, but still wears the original color, original leather interior, and well-preserved mechanicals, including the desirable three-carburetor engine. The quality of preservation and recent work by a Delahaye specialist mean that this 1950 Delahaye 135M has been well-cared for, but now it is ready to turn heads with a new owner behind the wheel.This 1950 Delahaye 135M is available at the upcoming Bonhams Harrogate sale, where pre-auction estimates range from $80,000 to $110,000 VIA~SCD
