MV Agusta has introduced the 2013 MV AGUSTA RIVALE 800 , a clear competitor to the Ducati Hypermotard. Featuring the firm’s newly punched-out triple, bumped from 675cc to 800cc, the Rivale employs a signature steel-tube trellis frame that gives slightly more relaxed geometry than the recently announced Brutale 800. The basic architecture of the fiery triple remains, including the counter-rotating crankshaft and ride-by-wire electronics with multiple engine maps. The displacement comes from an additional 8.4mm stroke to go with the existing 79mm bore. MV AGUSTA says this configuration results in 125 horsepower at the crankshaft, which motivates a 375-pound motorcycle.According to MV AGUSTA , “The Rivale 800 exudes an emotive design from every angle. Dominating the road with its mix of harmonious and ‘discordant’ lines, tense yet voluptuous, bordering on futuristic whilst retaining synergy with our past. Volumes are perfectly balanced, containing areas that draw your eye to an incredible level of attention to detail. A sculptural composition where the engine and the chassis are always at the focal point. The front-fairing is compact and discreet yet able to characterize the front ends exuberant personality. Three elements, the mudguard, the side panels and the fuel tank are individually united to form a strong visual shield graphic that makes this machine instantly recognizable. Singularly MV Agusta.”Suspension consists of fully adjustable components from Marzocchi and Sachs, plus Brembo radial-mount calipers on 320mm discs leading the way. A fully electronic instrument panel highlights a spare, elegant cockpit.The 2013 MV AGUSTA RIVALE 800  is set to go on sale in the summer of 2013. U.S. prices haven’t been announced, but the European price is equivalent to $13,970.
